About Mazda
Mazda is a Japanese car manufacturer, and its headquarters are located in Fuchu, Hiroshima, Japan. It started out as a cork-making factory in the 1920s. In 1931, they moved from manufacturing machine tools to vehicles with the introduction of the Mazda-Go auto rickshaw.
They came to Canada in 1968 with Mazda Canada, although we were seeing their cars as early as 1959. In 1970, they officially entered the North American market and were successful. They partnered with Ford from 1974 to 2015, when they sold the remaining shares, and are now partnered with Toyota (from 2015 onwards).
In 1984, the name Mazda was formally adopted, and every car moving forward bore that name. Shortly after, they experienced some financial hardships, and by the late 80s, bankruptcy seemed imminent. But, in 1990, they released the Mazda Miata, and it was a hit. It saved the company, and it was a new turn for the company as they released more new and exciting models, such as the Mazda MX-5. In 2011, Mazda was one of the 15th-largest car manufacturers in the world.
