We’re taking a moment to reflect on our journey and celebrate the incredible achievements that defined 2025 as the year comes to a close. It’s been a year of growth, change, and perseverance; from major software upgrades and technology launches to new leadership, and enhanced customer experiences.
The climb wasn’t always easy, but our team rose to every challenge with dedication — and we can confidently say the work was worth the effort. Let’s take a look at everything we’ve accomplished together this year.
In the media spotlight
This year brought something new and exciting for our team — an incredible amount of media attention generated through our insurance data and thought leadership. Our team produced a number of deeply researched reports about the insurance industry, with the goal of educating consumers and calling attention to important trends. Meanwhile, our leaders provided their expert insights on topics ranging from speed limits in Alberta to insurance affordability.
We’re proud to have been featured in several major outlets, including CBC, Yahoo Finance , Canadian Underwriter , Insurance Portal, Money.ca, Insurance-Canada.ca, Collision Repair Magazine, MSN, Beinsure and Inside Halton.

Awards and recognition
We’re also thrilled to celebrate some incredible individual achievements within our team this year. Our very own Samantha Schmidt was recognized as one of Insurance Business Canada’s 2025 Rising Stars, earning the award for Best Young Insurance Professionals Under 35 in Canada.
Additionally, Kathy Dang was honoured as Insurance Broker of the Year (Regional – Eastern) by Insurance Business Canada. These well-deserved recognitions showcase the exceptional talent, dedication, and expertise of our advisors who work tirelessly to support and guide our clients with their insurance needs.
And lastly, as a group — we are extremely proud to be recognized as a Top Insurance Employer in Canada for 2025 by Insurance Business Canada Magazine. This achievement reflects the dedication of our incredible team, who show up every day and make Surex an exciting, supportive place to work. We look forward to continuing to raise the bar for our industry and fostering a workplace where people can truly thrive.
An epic journey
Surex made major customer-focused improvements this year aimed at enhancing service, speed, and overall digital experience. One of the biggest milestones was our transition to Applied Epic, the world’s most widely used insurance agency management system. After countless hours of learning and training, our successful rollout has already started to make a positive impact. While the system is still new to us, we’re thrilled with its capabilities and excited about how much more we can achieve with it.
Applied Epic is an all-in-one insurance brokerage and agency management platform that streamlines operations and strengthens customer relationship management (CRM). By upgrading to this system, we can better serve clients, build stronger connections, and continue delivering efficient, personalized insurance solutions across Canada.

Surex upgrades its AI systems
Surex has long been leading the pack when it comes to integrating AI into our insurace sales process. You can read this feature from 2019 to see how AI has been integral to our company and how we do business.
We continued to build on this in 2025, using new AI predictive models to help us find new customers for Surex and build one of the best books of business in the industry.
As well, we trained our team and implemented new AI tools to help automate how our teams work, from marketing to our sales team. As AI tools evolve, we continue to adapt and integrate new tools, build new dashboards and automate new processes to keep Surex cutting edge. All of this, of course, to benefit our customers.
Looking ahead to 2026
As we close out the year, we’re proud to look back on our journey and the incredible progress we’ve made together. We can honestly say that 2025 was a year of transformation and embracing major changes. It wasn’t always an easy climb, but our team met every challenge with determination and collaboration.
We’re excited to carry this momentum into 2026 and see what new opportunities and successes the year ahead will bring.
