Ryan Kirk, the personal broker assigned to the lead, didn’t back down when faced with this special risk insurance possibility. He dove deep and found out the requirements the home would need to have for it to be considered by the insurance providers Surex works with.
April Canada, an insurance company based out of Broussard, Quebec, is the company that ended up taking the business. Lucie Lee-Frappier was the underwriter for April assigned to the opportunity. When asked if she considered declining this property, Lucie responded, ‘’Never! These out-of-the-ordinary properties are where we get a real chance to prove ourselves. My instinct was to find a solution to place this risk, and I’m glad that, in this case, we could help out.”

A point that stuck out to Kirk was how safe the home actually is. ‘’These hangar homes are rare – but they do exist,” Kirk said. ‘’One thing that may surprise people is these homes require 2-3 times more fire resistant insulation over a regular home.”
