How to submit an insurance claim with Travelers Insurance
If you've never filed an insurance claim before, the process may seem a little intimidating at first. Thankfully, the team at Travelers Canada has made it incredibly easy for their customers to submit a claim. All you need to do is follow Travelers' five-step process:
Step #1 — Contact the Travelers Canada claims team or your insurance broker
If you need to submit a claim with Travelers Canada, the first thing that you should do is contact their claims team. You can contact their team by calling 800-661-5522. Make sure that you have the following information ready before you call:
- Police report
- Necessary information of all parties involved (names, contact information, insurance information, etc.)
- Witness information
- Photos of the scene and the damage (if possible)
Step #2 — Wait until your insurance adjustor contacts you
Your claim adjuster will contact you to confirm all of the necessary details relating to your claim. Your claim adjuster will also allow you to ask any questions you may have about the remainder of the process.
Step #3 — Complete the necessary forms
Afterward, you'll receive a letter from the Travelers Canada team that includes important information about the remainder of the process and forms that you'll need to fill out. Generally, the sooner you fill out and return the forms, the sooner the Travelers Canada team will be able to assess your claim.
Step #4 — Travelers Canada determines the cost of the repairs and the value of your property/car
For auto insurance claims, you'll need to take your vehicle to a Travelers Canada-approved auto repair facility. Doing this will ensure that you don't need to get any additional estimates.
For home insurance claims, all you need to do is protect your property from further damage and work closely with your insurance adjuster.
Step #5 — Travelers Canada pays your settlement
For auto insurance settlements, you'll work with the approved auto repair facility to repair your vehicle and (if it's included in your policy) set up a rental car. You then have the option to:
- Get paid directly from Travelers Canada
- Have Travelers Canada pay the auto repair facility
- Have Travelers Canada issue a co-payable cheque
Once the repairs have been made, you've completed the claim process for your car.
For home insurance settlements, your insurance adjuster will help you quantify the damages. Travelers Insurance will then issue a check for the repairs.
Once you've received your money, you've officially wrapped up the claim process for your home.
